Mar. 21--Delta's aircraft deal is a huge strategic move for the company but won't make an immediate difference in the lives of Atlanta travelers.
The long-term nature of the deal means new planes will appear slowly, with the first few deliveries under the order still more than a year away. And because they are mostly upgrades of existing models, physical differences will be subtle.
Nor will the average age of Delta's fleet, currently 11.5 years, change appreciably, the airline says.
