DALTON, Ga. -- Tufted rugs are growing at retail, particularly in mass market channels, according to major producers. Although tufted rugs -- that is, rugs constructed like broadloom carpet -- currently account for only about $150 million in sales at the mill level, it's a segment of the business that is expected to grow significantly, possibly by 20 to 35 percent a year over the next five years, say major producers.
