Article: The talented Mr. Maier: Tomas Maier not only rescued Bottega Veneta, he reinvented it.(Interview)

DON'T ASK Tomas Maier a question if you don't want the answer. He's a man with definite ideas and strong opinions, the goto guy for candor. Like the doctor Hugh Laurie plays on the TV series House M.D. (whom Maier even resembles--without the limp and with a pronounced German accent), Maier has high standards and a low tolerance for mediocrity. He doesn't suffer fools--or fashionistas--gladly and doesn't understand superfluous, self-indulgent design, which makes him perfect for his position as creative director for Bottega Veneta. This, after all, is the company whose motto has long been "When your own initials are enough."
