WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART
Medici Arts: 2072368-2
When I first saw this delicious Roberto de Simone production of Mozart's gentle Neapolitan comedy at Vienna's intimate Theater an der Wien in 1996, I was charmed to the core. Watching the same production on DVD 12 years later, little of that initial enthusiasm has dampened. Mauro Carosi's handsome, circular set with its curved, moveable walls is simple yet effective, as are the atmospheric, meticulously painted panels and backdrops. Odette Nicoletti's Empire-style costumes, elaborate headdresses and jewellery continue to delight in their freshness, richness and exquisite detail.
