The 2009 Scholastic Art Awards, co-sponsored this year by M&T Bank and Sycamore Hill Gardens, kicked off in the Whitney Applied Technology Center on the campus of Onondaga Community College on Jan. 12 and 13 with two days of judging. Pieces selected from the more than 5,000 works of art submitted for review will remain on view at OCC through March 6.
This year, roughly 4,000 students in about 100 junior and senior high schools representing 13 counties from throughout Central New York and beyond submitted works of art for scrutiny by 60 professional judges. The judges are charged with making 800 awards in 19 ...
