An Air Force system that is aimed at dramatically cutting the amount of time that goes into planning a flight mission passed a major qualification hurdle earlier this month, according to Air Force officials.
The Air Force Mission Support System (AFMSS) that is being developed for the service by Lockheed Martin's Sanders "was found to provide an effective mission planning capability for the KC-135R [tanker]," according to a status report prepared by the Air Force Operational and Test Center at Eglin AFB in Florida.
The test was conducted March 3 to 7 at Eglin.
