WHILE the global economic slowdown has led to some decreases in tourist arrivals in South Africa, the target of attracting 10 million visitors in 2010 for the World Cup should still be possible, says Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Marthinus van Schalkwyk.
Speaking at yesterday's launch of the local government indaba on tourism, Van Schalkwyk said "our industry is by no means immune to the effects of the international economic crisis, but we are still confident that we will reach our target of 10 million visitors in 2010".
Yesterday marked 500 days before the World Cup kicks off in South Africa.
