Apple Computer (408/996-1010, http://www.apple.com) is ready to take the wraps off QuickTime 3.0, a forthcoming upgrade to its multimedia system software that will feature a new for-mat for video effects and improved integration with Microsoft Windows. Apple plans a second-quarter 1997 release for QuickTime 3.0, which will be available for the first time as an authoring environment for Windows as well as Macintosh users.
