Introduction

Cycloplatinated compounds have been a topic of interest in the last years as a consequence of the wide range of their potential applications in many areas (1-8). In spite of the large number of this type of compound described so far, the factors that control the cyclometallation process are not fully understood. Besides gross electronic and steric factors, subtle differences in the substituents of the ligands to be metallated can be decisive in the course of the reaction (9, 10).
