While the daily newspaper business continues to struggle, many daily papers continue to add on ancillary or niche publications in order to capture elusive readers and advertisers. Witness this week's expansion of the niche publications of the Boston Globe, the New York Times and the Dallas Morning News.
In Boston, the Globe has started a new weekly sports publication, OT (which the paper says stands for "our Town/Our Teams" but which everybody knows really stands for "over-time"). The 24-page, full-color oversize tab will come out on Thursdays and features Globe sports columnists and writers, as well as bloggers from the paper's web site, Boston.com.
