Science Applications International Corp. said Monday it has been awarded a defense contract to help develop an alternative to petroleum-derived jet fuel from algae. The contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency calls for developing the jet fuel from agricultural and aquacultural feedstock materials.
The contract is valued at up to $25 million if all phases of the development program are completed. Work will be done primarily in Georgia, Florida, Hawaii and Texas.
