Doug Franklin will succeed John Mellott as publisher of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution effective March 1, while maintaining his duties as executive vice president of Cox Newspapers. He will continue reporting to Sandy Schwartz, president of Cox Media Group. Mellott has announced he will retire as publisher of the AJC and from Cox after 22 years of service (see also The Atlanta Journal-Constitution).
As publisher, Franklin will add to his responsibilities as head of Cox Newspapers by leading more than 5,600 AJC employees at the Southeast's largest newspaper and the top source - both in print and in digital format - of news, information and advertising for ...
