The National Asthma Education and Prevention Program of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute has issued new guidelines for managing asthma (Expert Panel Report 3: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma; available at www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/asthma.
