Mick Staebell performs at piano bars, wedding receptions, and other events across the state of Iowa, and has recorded two CDs of his work.
Mick Staebell was 7 years old when he discovered he had an unusual talent.
He came from a family of eight children--seven boys and one girl--and his parents required each of the children to take at least one year of piano lessons from a woman who lived a mile from their Iowa farm. "I quickly learned I could play the lessons by ear if I heard my teacher play them," he says. "I'd come home and make it a little better by adding a couple of notes here and there.
