Article: Hickory students focus on elderly, teen violence.(Chesapeake Clipper)

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Inc. (FCCLA) and Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classes of Hickory Middle School have been busy these past two months.

In December, the FACS classes researched information on the elderly in the community and decided to adopt an older family for Christmas.

They chose Autumn Care of Great Bridge convalescent center as a place to focus their energies this school year.

The FCCLA chapter passed out gift bags with toiletries and Christmas cards. Members made pocket-tissue holders and sang Christmas songs.
