A national sample of 1,350 households was selected to participate in the study. HFN and Beaulieu designed an eight-page, 36-question survey which was completed by consumers in their homes. There were 905 responses. The sample was designed to match the U.S. Census on key geographic and demographic characteristics. That means the responses can be broadly interpreted as representing the general U.S. population.
