Nearly half the households in the study have area rugs in the home. They owned from one to 15 rugs and the average was a little over two rugs per household.
Rugs score very high on satisfaction charts with consumers. 87 percent said they were either satisfied or very satisfied with rugs already in the home. Although not dissatisfied, consumers under age 35 were not as positive as older consumers about their existing rugs.
Consumers are most satisfied with the following qualities: color and design, color fastness, durability, value for the money, underfoot feel and ease of care.
