THREE men died yesterday after an avalanche swept through a climbing party, sending them crashing 600ft down a mountain.
The tragedy happened around midday as a group of seven men were heading for the summit of 3,300ft Buachaille Etive Mor, a popular mountain in Glencoe.
An avalanche, thought to have been started accidentally by another climber above them, smashed through the group seconds later and sent them tumbling down the mountain.
Miraculously, four of the party hauled themselves free from the tons of snow, rocks and scree.
