SFC Agustin Mendoza was part of our Military Transition Team during the period of September 2006 to September 2007. On Dec. 1, 2006, Mendoza was involved in a routine mission as part of a quick reaction force in support of a company from the Iraqi Army Division (MECH). The Iraqi Army unit was receiving heavy fire and our mission was to provide them with enough support to extract their troops from the area. We received more heavy fire from roof tops, snipers, small arms, and hand grenades.
