This is a most impressive book. Bearing in mind that it is one of the first volumes of its kind, and that edited collections tend to be poorly focused, David Whitley has succeeded in producing a remarkably well structured, rather substantial tome. He has sensibly divided the subject of rock art studies into three basic sections: analytical and management methods, interpretive approaches, and an overview of world rock art.
