Four years ago, the 3rd Infantry Division was fielded with the Joint Network Node during their initial deployment to Iraq. The JNN was an interim solution to the long-awaited Warfighter Information Network--Tactical, but a viable improvement to the legacy mobile subscriber equipment currently in use. The Joint Network Node is a Joint-compatible communications package that allows the warfighter to use advanced networking capabilities, retain interoperability with current force systems, and keep in step with future networks (i.e. WIN-T).
