SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Infracore Co., South Korea's largest construction-equipment maker, said Wednesday it lost money last year due to losses from equity ties with affiliates. The company posted a net loss of 13.9 billion won (US$10 million) for 2008, compared with a profit of 180 billion won a year earlier, it said in a regulatory filing. Sales rose 6.6 percent to 3.96 trillion won and operating income gained 8.1 percent to 347 billion won, it said. In the fourth quarter, the company's net loss widened to 98.2 billion won from 13.4 billion won a year earlier, due to slumping demand for its equipment such as excavators in overseas markets.
