Italy's Eni and Norway's StatoilHydro have chosen Sevan Marine's floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) concept--known as Sevan FPSO 1000-for their Goliat development, beating a proposal from rival Norwegian contractor Aker Solutions. The two proposals were short-listed nine months ago.
The Sevan FPSO 1000 is capable of handling the harsh conditions of the Barents Sea, off the far north of Norway, said Eni. Based on Sevan Marine's proprietary technology, the floating platform will have an oil production capacity of 100,000 b/d, gas production capacity of 3.9 MMcm/d and oil storage capacity of 1 million bbl.
