Interpersonal violence and suicide are significant public health problems among adolescents. Based on data from the 2005 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), an estimated 9.2% of US high school students have ever been hit, slapped, or physically hurt on purpose by a boyfriend or girlfriend.
