For me, everything can serve as a vehicle for the sacred, especially poetry. Taken in its broadest sense, poetry goes beyond word constructs, syntax, meter, rhyme and lyricism to indicate a state of being in which all the physical senses, emotions and spiritual perception are tuned to heightened clarity.
Commonplace activities become adventures; routine choices become gateways to the unknown. This poetic state is the inner core of my being where I am most powerful, joyous and creative. To be in this state means living with my doors wide open to the wonder of each moment.
