For elementary school students in Idaho, it made "cents" to collect more than 300,000 pennies. Why? Abraham Lincoln appears on the coin, and the kids needed the money for a big birthday celebration in the 16th U.S. president's honor.
Lincoln was born 200 years ago, on Feb. 12, 1809. This month marks the bicentennial of his birth. A bicentennial is a 200th anniversary.
The students in Idaho raised money to help relocate, or move, a statue of Lincoln to a park near the Idaho Capitol. The project is one of hundreds of events across the country being held to celebrate Lincoln's birthday.
