San Mateo, Calif.-based Women's Wire has taken the campaign to commission a postage stamp honoring the late Madam C.J. Walker, America's first self-made female millionaire, to cyberspace. The electronic petition encouraging the U.S. Postal Service to commission the stamp was started in February during Black History Month. Alongside the petition, which visitors can download and circulate, browsers can read about Walker, who made her fortune as a hair-care products entrepreneur.
"The campaign is ongoing," says Kay Paumier, spokeswoman for Women's Wire. "Madam Walker's great, great granddaughter had more than 50,000 signatures before Women's Wire became involved." This ...
