UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 10, 2009 (IPS/GIN) -- In Latin America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, journalists are becoming increasingly vulnerable to physical violence because of their work, a U.S.-based media watchdog said in a report released Tuesday.
"Today, the greatest threats to freedom of the press are more insidious than a generation ago because they are intended to induce a climate of fear and intimidation," Carl Bernstein, a well-known investigative reporter, said at the launch of the report by the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists.
