On the boulevard renamed for him more than five years ago, as many as 500 people - more than anyone could ever remember for the annual event - marched Monday in honor of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
It was his day, after all, from sea to shining sea.
The sentiment of many who marched on Monday was that there was no better time to celebrate than the day before the inauguration of the nation's first African- American president, Barack Obama, whose historic election two months ago might never have been possible if not for King.
