The Jordanian Kuwaiti for Infrastructure Development Company is inviting selected contractors to bid by 10 February for the contract to design and build a light railway connecting Amman and the country's second-largest city, Zarqa.

In total, the rail system will be about 26 kilometres long. It will be a double track using a standard 1,435mm gauge.

There will be two terminals and five stations along the line. The New Zarqa terminal will have a total built-up area of about 50,000 square metres, while the Raghadan terminal in the capital will have a total built-up area of 14,000 sq m.
