Five resign from board of equality watchdog
FIVE members of the board of the Equality Authority have resigned from the already-diminished agency in protest at the "failures" of Justice Minister Dermot Ahern.
Two union officials, two employer representatives and a charity leader became the latest members to depart from the troubled watchdog yesterday after its funding was cut by 43pc.
Irish Congress of Trade Union representatives Louise O'Donnell and David Joyce, IBEC's Finola McDonnell, Irish Distillers' Denis O'Flynn, and Frank Goodwin of the Carers' Association announced they were leaving yesterday.
