Apr. 23--The climate for incubating new businesses heated up in Contra Costa County while it cooled in Alameda County during the first quarter, based on an analysis released Tuesday.
The number of businesses filing incorporation papers with the Secretary of State during the January-March period climbed by nearly 5 percent in Contra Costa compared to the same time last year, said CDB Infotek, a Santa Ana-based research firm. Meanwhile, the number of corporations hatched in Alameda County plunged by 16 percent, CDB Infotek said.
Statewide, the first-quarter's business incorporations rose by 2.1 percent from the same time last year. In the nine ...
