OXFORD - Town Manager Joseph M. Zeneski has proposed that the town take over the Aquarion Water Co. system in Oxford.
But Aquarion spokesman Martin I. Cohn said, "It's not for sale."
Signs of dissatisfaction with Aquarion have been simmering for years, but rose to the boiling point last year when the company requested a 33 percent increase in rates for its Oxford customers.
The increase would largely finance a $5 million Millbury treatment plant "that benefits only Millbury customers," Mr. Zeneski said at Tuesday's selectmen's meeting.
