State Farm said it terminated 53 of its agents because they allegedly "attempted wrongful use" of the insurer's charitable matching funds program--but some people involved told the National Underwriter they believe the firings actually occurred because the agents were active on issues that State Farm did not endorse or want publicized.
This is the largest punitive action State Farm has taken against its sales force in its 75-year history, other media sources have reported.
The Baltimore-based National Association of State Farm Agents--which is not associated with the Bloomington, III.-based insurer--issued a statement that on March 31, 53 agents were ...
