What would it mean to reinhabit the land, to become, as Stephanie Mills playfully suggests, "a specimen of Homo sapiens reinhabitens?" Reflecting on her own experiences and on the efforts of others who have tried and are trying to learn to "live-in-place," Mills offers an uncommonly lyrical account of the possibilities inherent in ecological restoration.
