Article: A.M. Best places Colonial Penn Life, Providential Life ratings under review after Leucadia announces planned sale.

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 1997--Effective yesterday, A.M. Best Co. placed the "A" (Excellent) rating of Colonial Penn Life Insurance Co., Philadelphia, and the "B++" (Very Good) rating of Providential Life Insurance Co., Little Rock, Ark., under review with developing implications.

In addition, the rating of Charter National Life Insurance Co. has been lowered from "A" to "A-" (Excellent) and the rating of Intramerica Life Insurance Co., Little Rock, has been affirmed at "A-" (Excellent). All of the entities are wholly owned subsidiaries of Leucadia National Corp.
