Montreal-based Bombardier Transportation didnt win a $13 billion Cdn contract to build new trains for the British rail system. The British government announced this week that it decided to go with a bid from Agility Trains a British-Japanese consortium led by Hitachi to construct more than 1,400 express trains.

Officials at the Express Rail Alliance, comprising Bombardier Transportation, Siemens, Angel Trains and Babcock & Brown, have said they are extremely disappointed not to have been awarded the contract after spending 18 months on the bid.
