The change in administrations offers an opportunity for improved industry/government relations. To say the least, the policy coming from the highest levels of the Bush administration has not been exactly welcoming, with its unilateral declaration of striped bass and red drum as gamefish and the creation of a huge marine national monument off Hawaii by administrative fiat.
If President Obama were to adopt a more collaborative approach, it would represent not only a welcome change, but a positive move toward good oceans and public policy. Our new president comes into office with a full agenda, facing a crumbling economy, a health care crisis, the wars in Iraq and ...
