THE YEAR 2008 IS AN EXHILARATING and challenging moment to be reflecting on feminist art, feminist artists, their impact on our culture, and their place at the table. In the past two years, two major exhibitions circulated in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C., museums, assessing the history of Second Wave feminist art and presenting a global view of contemporary art: WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution; and Global Feminisms: New Directions in Contemporary Art.
