Food poisoning incidents in China spike in Q4

Shanghai. February 13. INTERFAX-CHINA - A reported 3,496 people were struck by food poisoning in China from October to December of 2008, ballooning 71.6 percent from the fourth quarter of the previous year, the Ministry of Health (MoH) announced on Feb. 13.

The individuals were part of 104 reported food poisoning outbreaks, which were up 6.1 percent year-on-year. The MoH attributed the rise to an increase in reported poisonings from accidental ingestion of toxic animal, plant and chemical substances.
