LOWELL, Mass. _ These are strange times in Massachusetts politics. A Kennedy looks as if he might be in trouble.
U.S. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy 2d, the 44-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy and a candidate for governor next year, has slipped badly in the polls. He has been forced to confront accusations that dredge up negative publicity and old concerns about Kennedy men and their relations with women.
The drop has been so steep that some analysts wonder whether the public is holding him accountable for all the family's past sins and scandals.
