FOR HILLARY CLINTON, IT WAS A tough piece of news. Last week Chelsea, her only child, announced that she would pursue her college degree some 8,000 miles from home. Chelsea, a 12-year-old National Merit Scholarship finalist with an interest in medicine and a passion for ballet, had offers from, among others, Harvard, Yale and Princeton.
