May 5--It's a good thing to have a house with taste, but it's a bad thing for a house to be tasty.
It's bad because the taste testers are termites, and their dining can destroy a house.
Or an apartment, condominium, patio cover, store, office, plant or anything else with wood as a frame.
To a termite, wood is good.
But the damage they do is bad -- an estimated $1.1 billion a year in the nation; more than the $687 million damage caused by all fires, storms and earthquakes combined, Orkin Exterminating Co. Inc. reported.
