May 5--The Medical College of Wisconsin is looking for a good rat poison. Not necessarily a rat poison, but any good invention the college can patent for royalties.
The medical college wants to follow the lead of the University of Wisconsin, which made a bundle off rat poison and other patented inventions -- more than $320 million since 1925.
"We're looking for that home-run ball. We are at the plate, and we're swinging," said William R. Hendee, senior associate dean in charge of the Office of Research Technology and Information at the Medical College in Wauwatosa.
Last year, the college took in $427,000 in royalties from patents ...
