After hosting rugby internationals since 1878, the Lansdowne Road name has been become part of a corporate scrappage scheme. Dump it, recommended the marketing tsars, and its replacement will earn money.
History and heritage objected but were frog-marched from the stadium and told that their memories would be sent on later. Lansdowne Road's soul had been sold in return for '4m per annum but, hey, what's another lost soul in these desolate times.
