This column is in praise of a certain type of mother. Mothers-in-law, to be specific. I know that many of you already are snorting. How can anyone openly praise mothers-in-law given their position in society?
Mothers-in-law are right up there with root canals in popularity for many married couples. They are the staple of comedians and the bane of countless wives.
Admittedly, some of these women have earned their place of dishonor by not being respectful of their children's marriage and by not observing proper boundaries and distance. Some women never do realize that their sons have a new priority when they marry, and these mothers can make life ...
