As the self-proclaimed "business mayor," it's clear where Richard Riordan's allegiances lie - and as he seeks a second term as Los Angeles mayor in the April 8 election he has the broad support of the city's business community.
But just how much has Riordan done?
First and foremost, the local economy has clearly improved under Riordan's tenure - though local analysts say that improvement is more likely the result of economic cycles than the mayor's specific policies.
Unemployment has dipped to 7.6 percent - down from 11.9 percent in 1993 and at its lowest level in six years.
Just as significantly, the number of new jobs created in Los Angeles ...
