New scrap recovery plant has world's biggest steel shredder
A former Packard Motor Co. site on Detroit's near east side has been transformed into a $14.5 million scrap recovery plant that opens this week.
Strong Steel Products L.L.C., at 6464 Strong Ave. near East Grand Boulevard and Mt. Elliott, boasts the world's largest, most powerful scrap-steel shredder, says Jeff Cole, CEO and board chairman of the privately held Ferrous Processing & Trading Co., Strong Steel's parent company.
