REDONDO BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1997--TRW Inc. is completing testing of one of the largest, lightest and most powerful solar arrays ever built for a spacecraft.
The array will be delivered this summer to Lockheed Martin for integration onto NASA's Earth Observing System AM-1 (EOS AM-1) spacecraft.
Standing at about the height of a two-story building and weighing as much as an Olympic sprinter, the EOS AM-1 flexible blanket solar array measures 485 square feet.
