Driving along a quiet road in the native community of Fort Rupert on northern Vancouver Island, I spotted a sign leaning against a shed - almost enveloped in tall grass - for The Copper Maker Gallery.
If I hadn't noted the address for the gallery-workshop of artist Calvin Hunt, I'd never have seen it. It was a lesson learned early on a three-day visit: There are plenty of gems in this little-explored pocket of coastal B.C., but be prepared to suss them out.
